Beaufort commissioners in Carteret County announced Monday the Front Street Village Project is almost 22 months ahead of schedule. Phase two of the project, which includes a 90 room inn and a public bistro, is expected to bring jobs, tourists, and in turn a boost to the local economy. Construction on these facilities is expected to start next year and be completed by 2014.
"I really thinks it's a good fit for the community. It's not like someone is building a modern big complex. It's quaint and it's keeping with the architecture. I think its going to be good, " said resident David Evans.
The new inn will look directly over the Shackelford Banks where wild horses roam.
